Education Program Manager:
Description of the proposed work and impact on target audience
The San Francisco School Alliance (SFSA) implements our mission through a strategic partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). We are working to build district capacity to improve student educational outcomes for all and accelerate the achievement of underserved students. SFSA is seeking an education program manager with the experience and skills to increase our capacity to effectively support this work. Of special importance is identifying district strengths that can serve as a reliable foundation for ambitious improvements in teaching, learning and service to our students and their families.
Position
The SFSA leadership needs the support of an experienced and skilled educational leader with a track record of successful school and/or district improvement in a K-12 system. This person will need an understanding of educational programs across the curriculum, as well as expertise in project planning and implementation.
Reports to
The Executive Director of the San Francisco School Alliance
Functions and Responsibilities

Works with the SFSA and SFUSD leadership and staff, building administrators, teacher leaders involved in various educational initiatives sponsored by the SFSA, philanthropic and corporate leaders supporting the projects and education partners helping implement these projects.

Assists the SFSA Executive Director in needs assessment and design of programs and projects.

Assists the SFSA development team in writing proposals and managing accountability for successful implementation and reporting to investors.

Coordinates logistics of start-up projects and ongoing implementation of existing projects.

Becomes familiar with any tools used to track and implement projects.

Helps design and implement the gap analysis of any program being implemented during the work of an initiative and helps communicate the data generated by the analysis with the goal of helping improve overall student outcomes and eliminating the achievement gap.

Coordinates with the assessment and evaluation staff at the district to provide good data and to ensure that the district is aware of and possibly contributing to research and development that further project goals.

Works with project team members and SFSA development staff to design and deliver regular project status reporting to district leaders, SFSA staff and board, project funders and the community at large.

Helps articulate the emerging educational vision to support the district’s strategic plan and goals as the schools move toward implementation of a strong instructional core.
Qualifications

Master’s degree
-
A combination of five years of successful experience in K-12 classroom teaching and/or educational program experience and/or providing educational technical assistance or support for teachers or leaders

Demonstrated strong content knowledge of preK-12 curriculum, state and national standards, assessments, professional development, and pedagogy

An understanding of education policy

Strong planning and project management skills

Proven writing skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to work as team member as well as a leader on complex projects
