San Francisco School Alliance

Thank you for your interest in becoming a School Alliance Sponsored Community Project.

ELIGIBILITY

• Your project must benefit the students of the San Francisco Unified School District.
• Funding sources must be secured.

WHAT IT COSTS

The School Alliance assesses a nominal 10% fee to cover for overhead costs.

Fiscal Agent Fee – 10% of funds deposited (or negotiated rate based on degree to which services are used)

• Receive all funds for principal
• Promptly pay all expenses as submitted and approved by appropriate designee of principal
• Maintain financial reports (detail of income and expenditures) for principal
• Provide financial reports and information as required by grantors to principal
• Notify donors of receipt of charitable contribution by principal
• Include principal’s account(s) in SFSA’s annual audit

Fiscal Sponsor Fee – depends on extent of services, starts at 10% of funds deposited

• All Fiscal Agent services are provided
• Legal and financial responsibility for project operations
• Overhead in place: legal structure in place (board of directors, articles of incorporation, by-laws, 501(c)3 established)
• Professional services and contractors in place: legal, HR, accounting, audit, etc.
• Insurance Coverage (D&O, liability)
• Contracting for services
• Ability to hire and supervise staff (separate employment charge)
• Ability to provide startup address, office space, equipment (separate charge)

Employment Fee – Employee gross salary + 26%

• Salary
• Employer taxes
• Standard SFSA benefits as outlined in Employee Handbook including: medical vision and dental insurance coverage, paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick time
• Workers Compensation Insurance.
• Payroll processing fees (outside agency)
• Tracking employee time and expenses
• HR functional support: personnel policy and procedures, personnel manual, advice and counsel (PPC&E, hiring, firing, contracting)
• Oversight and supervision: top line oversight, sign offs, counseling
• Contingency for legal issues, additional advice and counsel
