We’re mounting a major transformation and redesign of our city’s public school system, putting strong schools at the center. Led by the leadership of our city’s schools and supported by the School Alliance, the new direction and plan rests on four major strategies.
Here in San Francisco, we’re turning the traditional pyramid upside down – or you might say right side up – to redesign the district so that our schools are placed on top. Instead of being driven by a top-down bureaucratic culture, the central district office is being redefined as a platform of support, learning, and continuous improvement.
The School Alliance has formed a unique public-private partnership with the leadership of the school district – to mobilize the enormous talent, social capital and resources, not only in San Francisco but also statewide and nationally – for the implementation of the new vision and strategic plan. Together we identify the greatest points of leverage where outside investment can make the most impact on the quality of the city’s schools.
